# Rent My Homelab — a cloud computer over SSH Real VMs on community hardware. Pick CPU, RAM and disk, get root over SSH and a public web URL. Built for AI agents, CI and side projects. rentmyhomelab.com and joinmyhomelab.com are the same hub. Your SSH key is your account — no signup / no e-mail. ## Phase 1 — open preview Any account can join its hardware. VM creation is unlocked by connecting a node (any x86_64 machine); node providers get free starter credits. Phase 1 is where we grow and test the platform. Contributors in Phase 1 earn 90% of the credits their nodes produce. ## Phase 2 — soon Once there are enough nodes and the cluster is proven stable, any account can top up with crypto or fiat and use the cluster without providing a node. ## Get a VM ssh rentmyhomelab.com 1. ssh rentmyhomelab.com — your key is your account; starter credits land on first connect. 2. Unlock (Phase 1): connect a node by booting your personal ISO on any machine. 3. Create a VM — pick CPU, RAM and disk; get SSH access and a public web URL. ## Commands ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --agent the full non-interactive command list ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --listvm ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --vminfo ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --createvm --distribution --cpu N --ram N --hdd N [--name x] ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --vm-start ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --vm-stop ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --vm-restart ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --vm-delete ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --vm-clone ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --vm-resize [--cpu N] [--ram N] [--hdd N] ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --credits ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --usage ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --faq ## Templates (one-click servers) ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --templates ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --create-from minecraft --name mc game server, TCP 25565 published ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --create-from sandbox --ttl 4h ephemeral AI-agent box (self-deletes) ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --create-from dev git/python/node/docker ## VM features Ubuntu/Debian/Fedora; choose CPU/RAM/disk; root over SSH; a persistent disk; stop/start/restart/resize; clone; a public HTTPS URL and your own domain with auto TLS; scheduled backups with rollback; durable encrypted images; automatic failover if a host dies. Metered per minute (1 credit = $1); a stopped VM pays only for its disk. Full list: https://rentmyhomelab.com/vm ## Confidentiality — read this A VM runs on a machine a community member lends, and that host can read the VM's disk and memory. Run only projects that do NOT need confidentiality (dev, CI, side projects) — never store secrets, personal data or regulated data on a VM. Durable backups are stored encrypted and the fleet copies are ciphertext, but a running VM is visible to the machine hosting it. Details: https://rentmyhomelab.com/security ## For AI agents Everything is SSH; your SSH key is your identity. Prefer the non-interactive flags; run ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --agent for the complete command list. If your key can use several accounts, name one: ssh @rentmyhomelab.com -- . There is also an HTTP API (https://rentmyhomelab.com/v1) and an MCP server (https://rentmyhomelab.com/mcp) for agents and CI — mint a key with ssh rentmyhomelab.com -- --api-key-new
